BB Notes

I've yet to pen a great worship song, as that seems a whole different art.  I had hoped to find a special one for this CD.  Joel Hanson from PFR was coincidentally the worship pastor at my home church for a few years.  Everytime we would sing "Under" it moved me deeply, more than most "Praise & Worship" songs.  Why?  I don't know.  Sure it's a beautiful melody and a simple, profound, honest lyric.  And it speaks to restoration and new life, which is the theme of my life and writing.  But like any great song, there's just magic there that you can't put your finger on.  An annointing.  That's what I'd feel everytime we'd sing it at church.  So I asked Joel if I could record it and he gratefully said yes.

So I hope you feel the magic too.  May the symbolism and hope in Joel’s song cause you to believe it all - and dive in.

Lyrics

Every burden I've ever carried
I'm leaving here, I'm leaving here
Every wound my hands have delivered
I'm leaving here, I'm leaving here

Under, I'm going under
Let the water, water wash over
Let me rise up out of these old ways
Into new life, into your name

All my broken, desperate days
I'm leaving here, I'm leaving here
All my hopeless and reckless ways
I'm leaving here, I'm leaving here

Chorus

Mark me with love that flows from your name
As I plunge under and rise again
Let your kingdom rule to the depths of my soul
Make me free, make me whole

Chorus
